Biratnagar, Mar. 3: The Underground Water Resources Development Committee Biratnagar Branch has set a target to provide irrigation facilities to farmers by installing 706 shallow tube wells in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and Ilam districts in the fiscal year 2070- 71 BS.
The office said it has reached in final stage of fulfilling the target. Works for agreement for shallow tube wells is underway through Consumers' Committees.
Agreement has been signed with the consumer groups to install 200 shallow tube wells as against the target of installing 267 tube wells in Jhapa district, said Chief of the Office Surendra Shakya.
Agreement has been signed for Morang for 200 out of 267, and in Sunsari, agreement has been signed for 100 out of the 139 and 15 signed for Ilam out of 33.
Works have been moved ahead after agreement with the target of installing two deep tube wells in Morang and one in Sunsari. He said it is not, however, clear how much amount is needed for one shallow tube well.
Many farmers will be able to use the irrigation facilities after completion of shallow and deep tube wells, it is learnt. RSS
